Why Personalisation Matters in Print Marketing

In today’s increasingly digital world, well-executed personalised print marketing is a powerful tool that can truly resonate with your target audience. By incorporating specific recipient information or tailoring content, you create a meaningful connection with each reader. Here’s why personalisation is essential for modern print marketing:

  1. Enhanced Customer Engagement: Personalised marketing materials generate a sense of connection, encouraging readers to pay attention and absorb the information being presented.
  2. Increased Conversion Rates: Customised marketing messages address the unique needs and preferences of individual customers, leading to higher response rates and more effective campaigns.
  3. Boosted Brand Loyalty: Consistently receiving personalised communications fosters a sense of loyalty and trust between customers and your business, contributing to increased customer retention.

Techniques in Personalised Print Marketing

To create personalised print marketing materials, several techniques and tactics can elevate the effectiveness of your campaigns. Keep in mind the following strategies to make a lasting impression:

  1. Variable Data Printing (VDP): Employ digital printing technology to incorporate different information, such as names, addresses, or images, within a single print run. This allows for targeting specific segments of your audience with customised messages.
  2. Personalised Direct Mail: Combine personalised printing with targeted mailing lists to send relevant offers, promotions, or product recommendations, enhancing the overall impact of your marketing campaign.
  3. Custom Packaging: Utilise bespoke packaging designs based on individual customer preferences or past purchase behaviours, subtly demonstrating your business’s attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction.

Executing a Personalised Print Marketing Campaign

Putting together a personalised print marketing campaign involves several key steps, from collecting data to developing the right design and messaging. Here’s how to get started:

  1. Gather Customer Data: Collect and organise relevant data about your customers, such as purchase history, demographics, or preferences. Make sure to follow data protection guidelines, ensuring the privacy and security of the collected information.
  2. Segment Your Audience: Analyse customer data, identify patterns, and group customers by specific factors such as behaviour, location, or demographics. This helps in creating targeted messages addressing specific needs or interests.
  3. Develop Customised Content: Craft impactful marketing messages tailored to each customer segment, highlighting factors that resonate with each group. Collaborate with a professional printing service like Orbitpress Ltd to ensure the final design is visually appealing with consistent branding.
  4. Utilise the Right Printing Techniques: Discuss the most suitable printing method, digital or lithographic, with your printing provider. Considering the project’s scale and complexity, opt for the right technique to achieve cost efficiency and desired outcomes.

Measuring the Success of Your Personalised Print Marketing Campaign

Successful campaigns require performance tracking to understand your personalisation efforts’ impact and guide future marketing decisions:

  1. Set Clear Goals: Define specific, measurable goals for your campaign, ranging from improved response rates to increased sales or revenue. Ensure that they align with your overall business objectives.
  2. Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Monitor metrics such as response rates, conversion rates, or ROI to evaluate the success of the campaign, informing future strategy and adjustments.
  3. Review Customer Feedback: Gauge customer satisfaction through feedback forms, online reviews, or social media interactions, continuously striving to improve the quality of your personalised marketing materials.

Do I Need Digital or Lithographic Print?

In a nutshell, lithographic print uses wet inks and printing plates to produce print, digital print uses dry powder toner fused at a high temperature onto the sheet.

With the latest digital presses on the market giving near lithographic quality, the digital process, as a general rule of thumb, is quicker and financially more suitable for the shorter print runs.

However,  there comes a point when the cost of litho and digital meet, and as the quantity grows, lithographic becomes a more cost effective option. We are fortunate to be able to offer both processes, and always ensure that each job is looked at individually, and priced accordingly to give the customer the best price we can.

There are exceptions to this, some jobs are suited more to lithographic print, it could be the weight of the material required is too thick for the digital press, the size of the sheet required is too big, and sometimes it could be that the content of the print just isn’t suited to the digital process, although this is a rare occurrence.
